How does the ennovent Network work?

The members of the ennovent Network are from different disciplines and organizations around the world with an interest in sustainability and development. By connecting people worldwide with different knowledge and strengths, the most innovative solutions for specific problems can be discovered and eventually incubated and scaled up. ennovent will broadcast different Challenges to the Network to find solutions that can make a substantial impact on sustainability at the Base of the Economic Pyramid (BoP).

Why did ennovent establish this Network?

Solutions to many of the current sustainability challenges exist, but may not be known or used where they are most needed. ennovent established the network in order to connect people from around the world to find solutions to sustainability challenges at the BoP.

What is a Challenge in the context of the ennovent Network?

A Challenge is a problem that is broadcast to the network to find an innovative solution. Through the Challenge process, ennovent aims to discover the best and most innovative for-profit solutions to a specific problem of sustainability at the BoP.

Is the diversity of the Solver network important?

It is critical to reach out to people from different backgrounds, for out-of-the-box thinking to some problems organizations cannot solve internally. People outside the immediate domain and discipline of the problem often have a fresh take on them, and can bring vital new angles and insight.

How is the winner decided?

For the Challenge broadcast by ennovent, a multi-disciplinary team from ennovent Austria and India, with support of local advisors, will shortlist 10 solutions. The 10 finalists will be presented to a panel of external judges representing our Indian and international partners, ennovent staff and the Challenge sponsor (ennovent's Sustainable Enterprise Fund or SEF). The judging panel will select the winning solution. The Investment Committee of the SEF will have the right to reject a finalist, which does not meet the investment criteria of the SEF.

In the case of Challenges from external Seekers, the Seeker, in collaboration with a panel of sector experts, ennovent advisors and Challenge partners, selects the winning solution. The evaluation criteria defined by the Seeker to select the winning solution will be published in the Challenge Profile.

Will every Challenge have a winner?

If none of the solutions received match the evaluation criteria and therefore will not be able to solve the problem, no winner will be awarded.

Can a person submit more than one Solution and nominate more than one Solver?

There is no limit to how many Solutions or Nominations one person can submit to a Challenge.

What happens if two Connectors nominate the same company?

If several people have nominated the winning organization, the reward will go the Connector that submitted the nomination first.

What happens to the solutions that don’t win?

Something valuable can come out of the Challenge also for the Solvers that are not rewarded. The Network has been set up to connect people working for sustainability, and valuable connections can be made around the Challenge. In some cases, Seekers and Solvers can agree to work together independently of the Challenge, on terms that benefit both.

Who can see my personal information?

Nobody other than the ennovent team can view your personal details. However, by submitting your solution or connect to solvers, you agree that your contact information can be given to the Seeker. This can happen in the event of a reward payment. Your personal details will never be sold or rented to third parties for marketing or any other purposes.

Can an organization steal my idea?

Privacy is important to ennovent. All information will be treated in the strictest confidence. Seekers are not obliged to pay a reward if your idea was already known, or submitted by somebody else.
